Highlighting the multifaceted nature of counter-insurgency operations, Buratai stressed the necessity for coordinated endeavors involving military intelligence, the Department of State Services (DSS), law enforcement agencies, and collaboration with local authorities to effectively tackle security challenges in the region.

“We believe the war should end in a very short time and shouldn’t prolong like those in countries of Columbia and Sri Lanka,” he remarked.

During his tenure as Chief of Army Staff, Buratai noted the successful recapture of nine local government areas in Borno within a span of five months, underscoring the efficacy of strategic military initiatives.

In a parallel vein, Professor Aliyu Shugaba, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, commended the institution’s resilience in confronting and overcoming consecutive attacks by suicide bombers on its premises.

As stakeholders deliberate on pathways towards lasting peace and stability in conflict-afflicted regions, Buratai’s call for decisive action resonates as a rallying cry for concerted efforts aimed at resolving insurgency and fostering sustainable development.

In conclusion, Buratai’s advocacy for expeditious measures to address security concerns in the Lake Chad Basin Region underscores the pressing need for proactive engagement and collaborative strategies to surmount prevailing challenges and pave the way for enduring peace and prosperity.
