He emphasized the need for this collaboration to be marked by transparency and openness, rather than a pursuit of dominance and leadership over the South.

Osinbajo argued that neglecting this approach would result in a missed opportunity to effectively address pressing global challenges related to climate change, peace, and security.

During the event with the theme “Resilient Systems: Managing Critical Dependencies,” Osinbajo underlined that it is increasingly evident that what the global South needs is greater cooperation and joint problem-solving rather than the exertion of influence.

He also pointed out that many of the resources necessary for sustainable development in a climate-friendly direction are situated in the developing world.

As several nations in the developing world rise to global prominence, they now have a broader range of choices when selecting their preferred partners.
