Fresh Health Scare Rocks Pope Leo XIV’s Family As Brother Louis Receives Cancer Treatment

A new report has revealed that Louis Prevost, the brother of Pope Leo XIV, is reportedly receiving treatment for blood cancer, adding to concerns following the pontiff’s recent lung cancer diagnosis.

According to Bush Radio Academy, a source close to the Prevost family told NBC 5 Chicago reporter Mary Ann Ahern that Louis was undergoing treatment for blood cancer. However, the source did not disclose details about his prognosis or how long he had been receiving treatment.

The development comes a day after Pope Leo XIV underwent surgery in Rome, during which doctors confirmed that he had lung adenocarcinoma, a type of non-small cell lung cancer.

The Vatican disclosed that the lower lobe of the Pope’s right lung was removed during the procedure earlier this week. Further details about his recovery and subsequent treatment have not been provided in the information available.

Lung adenocarcinoma develops when abnormal cells in the lungs grow uncontrollably and form a tumour. According to Harvard Medical School, the condition is one of the forms of lung cancer, while the Lung Cancer Foundation of America identifies it as the most common type, accounting for approximately 40 per cent of lung cancer cases.

The report about Louis’ condition has drawn attention to the health challenges reportedly facing members of the Pope’s family. However, further details concerning his treatment and medical outlook remain undisclosed.
