Fresh Twist In Akpabio-Natasha Saga As Sandra Duru Releases Explosive Nine-Minute Audio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have declined to comment on fresh allegations made by United States-based activist Sandra Duru, popularly known as Prof. Mgbeke, who claims that Akpabio engaged her to mount a campaign against the Kogi Central lawmaker.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the latest development emerged after Duru released a purported nine-minute audio recording on social media, presenting it as part of her account of her dealings with Akpabio and the prolonged controversy involving Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The new claims represent a reversal of Duru’s earlier position during the dispute. In May 2025, she had alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan offered her ₦200 million to make false allegations against Akpabio. Akpoti-Uduaghan denied the allegation and described Duru’s claims as untrue. She subsequently called for an investigation into what her legal team characterized as a coordinated campaign against her.

In the newly released recording, Duru alleges that Akpabio instead engaged her to campaign against Akpoti-Uduaghan. She has described the audio as a preview of further disclosures concerning her relationship with the Senate President and the dispute involving the Kogi Central senator.

The recording also contains excerpts in which a male voice, identified by Duru as Akpabio’s, allegedly discusses political developments involving former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Ned Nwoko. Among the claims attributed to the voice is that Okowa’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress was influenced by concerns surrounding corruption investigations rather than political conviction.

However, the authenticity of the recording, the identities of the voices, the date of the conversation and the full context of the remarks have not been independently verified. Akpabio’s office had not publicly confirmed or denied the authenticity of the recording in the reports reviewed.

Efforts to obtain a response from Akpabio’s media aide, Eseme Eyiboh, were unsuccessful, while Akpoti-Uduaghan’s media aide, Mike Idoko, said the senator’s camp had no comment on the matter.

The latest development adds another chapter to the prolonged dispute involving Akpabio, Akpoti-Uduaghan and Duru, with the new allegations remaining unverified pending responses from the individuals concerned and any independent examination of the recording.
