From Critic To Target: Bayo Onanuga Called Out After Nigerian Government Joins US In Sokoto Airstrikes
Media personality Rufai Oseni has highlighted what he sees as a contradiction in the federal government’s approach to security, following reports of joint airstrikes in Sokoto State between Nigeria and the United States.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oseni raised the issue on X, noting that the collaboration comes months after presidential aide Bayo Onanuga publicly criticized opposition leader Peter Obi for remarks that suggested he would welcome U.S. assistance in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.
Sharing a screenshot of Onanuga’s previous post, Oseni wrote: “…but Nigerian government just partnered with America on Airstrikes in Sokoto.”
The post refers to a November statement by Onanuga in which he said: “We shall never forget and forgive Peter Obi for supporting a foreign invasion of Nigeria,” reacting to comments attributed to Obi about seeking help from former U.S. President Donald Trump in tackling security challenges.
Oseni’s remarks come amid reports that Nigerian authorities collaborated with U.S. counterparts in air operations targeting armed groups in parts of Sokoto State, sparking renewed debate online over consistency in the government’s messaging.
