From Power To Palace? Nigerians React As Minister Shows Off Grand Mansion
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has refuted media claims that his luxury mansion—currently trending online—was built within two years of his appointment to President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement issued by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, Adelabu dismissed the allegations of funding the property through corrupt means as “false, mischievous, and misleading,” accusing the outlet of trying to tarnish his image and discredit Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, construction of the mansion began in November 2021 and was completed by August 2023—weeks before his ministerial appointment in September. He noted that he has lived on the same site since 2010, when he first built and unveiled the original structure during his career as a senior banking and finance executive. The current building, he explained, is simply a redevelopment of the earlier house, carried out 12 years later to suit the demands of his political life.
Adelabu called on the outlet to retract its report immediately or face possible legal action. He stressed that he only moved into the property this year due to work and timing constraints, and that the attention it received followed a viral video of him hosting Fuji musician Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma after the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election campaign flag-off.
Highlighting his long-standing investments in hospitality and real estate—both in and outside Oyo State—Adelabu said these ventures have created numerous jobs. He described the publication by Sahara Reporters as a baseless attempt to smear his reputation and undermine the Tinubu administration.
