Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has revealed the generous financial gesture he received from his father, billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, following his recent performance in Atlanta.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a candid interview, Davido disclosed that his father gifted him a whopping $300,000 after the show. Despite his own wealth and success in the music industry, Davido emphasized that his father still supports him financially.

He said, “I’d be lying if I said my dad doesn’t give me money — as he should, I’m his baby! Of course, he gives me cheques.”
Recounting the moment, he added, “The next day, he just called and said, ‘Ah my son, amazing show, good job, good job… hold this.’ I was like, oh thanks Dad!”

However, the moment of joy comes amid legal troubles for the star. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan has given Davido 21 days to appear in court to respond to allegations of intellectual property theft.

According to legal documents obtained by Peoples Gazette, four Nigerian artists — Martins Chukwuka Emmanuel, Abel Great Umaru, Kelvin Ayodele Campbell, and David Ovhioghena Umaru — are accusing Davido of copying their 2022 song, “Work.” They claim the singer repurposed the song into his 2024 track “Strawberry on Ice.”

Also named in the lawsuit are Sierra Leonean singer Emmerson Amidu Bockarie (Emmerson), who featured on the track, and others including Carlos Jenkins, Matthew Quinney, Marques Miles II, and Wynn Records, the label behind the release.

The plaintiffs allege that they originally shared their demo with Davido in 2022 as part of a proposed collaboration. But instead of collaborating, they claim Davido passed the material to Emmerson, who used elements of their song without permission.

Efforts to resolve the matter led to a March 14, 2025 settlement agreement where Davido agreed to pay $45,000 and share 40% of the composition royalties and 20% of the sound recording royalties. However, the artists allege Davido failed to uphold the deal, missing the March 24 payment deadline, despite assurances he would comply.
