This comes amidst heightened political tensions as Governor Fubara vowed not to be swayed by threats from those attempting to undermine governance in the state. Addressing his supporters, Fubara reassured them that despite the political challenges, the state would emerge stronger and more united.

“I want to say to our loyal supporters, I know some of you are feeling strong, while others may feel disheartened,” Fubara said. “But I assure you, no matter what the current situation is, we will rise again, stronger and better. Please, continue to follow my path, the path of peace, because in the end, we are the greatest losers if we deviate.”

APC Faction Calls for Resignation, Rejects Reconciliation Efforts

A faction of the APC loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike, led by Tony Okocha, has called for Fubara to either resign or face impeachment, citing alleged failures in governance and disrespect for President Bola Tinubu. Okocha, speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday, dismissed the governor’s invitation for reconciliation talks with the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly, calling it a “Greek gift.”

“The options for Governor Siminalayi Fubara are clear: he must either resign honorably or face impeachment because he has mismanaged the state and disrespected Mr. President,” Okocha said. “The Supreme Court judgment is final, and nothing can change that. The only choice left for the governor is to resign or be impeached, and he should do so honorably.”

Okocha did not hold back in his criticism, describing Fubara’s leadership as “clueless” and a threat to the stability of the state.
