Fubara emphasized the importance of strengthening institutions to reduce the influence of politicians and individuals on governance. “What we need in this country is institutional strength, not individual power. Only strong institutions can foster development,” he asserted.

He raised concerns about the current state of institutions in Nigeria, stating, “As a businessman looking to invest in Nigeria, why would I proceed when I see weak institutions overshadowed by stronger individuals? This state belongs to all of us. It’s not just about me, Fubara. If our institutions are compromised, the same issues will persist regardless of who is in power.”

He urged attendees to stand firm in defending these institutions, promising, “I assure you that I will defend the cause of justice in this state with my last breath.”

Fubara also cautioned judges against letting political pressures sway their decisions, insisting that justice must prevail at all times. “Some of you claim to be legal experts yet compromise the law to appease your paymasters. We all know that governance-related issues fall under the jurisdiction of the state high court,” he stated.

He reminded judges of their crucial role in upholding the truth, saying, “Judges, you are our representatives of justice. Your duty is to defend us and speak the truth. If you fail to do so, you will answer for it later.
