Fuel Crisis In Anambra Strands Commuters, Raises Concerns....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Anambra State grappled with significant disruption on Wednesday as multiple commuters and drivers found themselves stranded due to the closure of petrol stations. Reports from PUNCH Online indicated that several petrol stations in key cities such as Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Umunze, and Ekwulobia, along with their environs, were unable to dispense fuel on Wednesday morning. This predicament stretched from Upper Iweka parks in Onitsha to the Aroma roundabout in Awka and other urban hubs.
As a result, the shortage of vehicles on the roads led to a notable surge in transport fares, skyrocketing by more than 200 percent. Commuters fortunate enough to secure seats on the limited available buses were compelled to pay exorbitant fares, catching many unprepared and forcing others to trek to their destinations.
The cause behind the closure of petrol stations remained uncertain at the time. However, the development elicited a range of reactions from the public. While some speculated that the stations were on strike, others suspected a deliberate move by marketers to hike fuel prices.
