A chilling incident unfolded in Auchi, Edo State, as members of a cult group allegedly perpetrated a heinous act: the murder of an Eiye member in front of his own daughter. Reports suggest that the assailants, believed to be affiliated with the Aye Confraternity, arrived at the scene in a luxurious Lexus car.

NaijaConfra, an online platform dedicated to combating cult-related violence in Nigeria, brought attention to this tragic event through its social media account. According to their post on Wednesday, the attack appeared to be a retaliatory move by the Aye group following the killing of one of their members, Emma, on Monday in Auchi.

Details confirmed by the platform revealed Emma’s brutal murder by Eiye confraternity members, prompting the swift and violent retaliation witnessed the following day.

Despite the presence of the victim’s daughter, the assailants showed no mercy, swiftly carrying out their attack before fleeing on foot, leaving behind their vehicle and weapons. Local vigilante groups gave chase, but the culprits managed to escape.

When reached for comment, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, expressed ignorance about the incident and requested time to verify the details.
