A key figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has dismissed speculations of a possible opposition merger, asserting that only individuals—not political parties—can unite to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking to The Guardian about the ongoing political realignments, Galadima ruled out any alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and NNPP ahead of the 2027 elections. He argued that both PDP and LP had been compromised and no longer functioned as credible opposition forces.

“PDP is not merging with anyone because it is simply another branch of APC—no one needs to tell you that. The Labour Party has also been taken over. So, only individuals can align and come together under one umbrella,” Galadima stated.

Caution Against Repeating 2015 Mistakes

His comments follow the recent defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, from APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), widely interpreted as a move to strengthen the opposition ahead of 2027.

However, Galadima warned against repeating the political missteps of 2013-2014, which paved the way for Muhammadu Buhari and later, Bola Tinubu, to become president.

“We must not repeat the mistakes of 2013 or 2014—removing Tinubu just for the sake of removal. You may succeed in ousting Tinubu, just as Buhari was removed, only to find yourselves searching for Tinubu in broad daylight with a torch,” he cautioned.
