Generous Move: Bola Tinubu Donates 34 Months’ Salary To Armed Forces

The initiative is designed to support serving soldiers, personnel injured in the line of duty, and families of officers who died while serving the nation.

To facilitate the scheme, the President directed the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to establish a dedicated account that will serve as a central pool for the fund.

Tinubu also announced that all the salaries he has earned since assuming office in May 2023 will be contributed as the initial funding.

According to him, the fund will provide assistance to wounded soldiers, including those with severe injuries, as well as offer support to the families of fallen servicemen.

He explained that the initiative will complement existing welfare and insurance systems, with a stronger focus on providing direct relief to those most affected by the risks of military service.

The President further called on state governors, members of the National Assembly, corporate organisations, and other Nigerians to contribute to the fund once the account details are made public.

He noted that the decision reflects the need to care for those who put their lives on the line daily, as well as the families who endure the consequences of such sacrifices.
