The visit, according to the German Embassy, aims to further solidify the more than six-decade-long bilateral relations between the two nations.

During her stay in Nigeria, the German Chancellor will hold meetings with President Bola Tinubu and Dr.

Omar Alieu Touray, the President of the ECOWAS Commission. She is also set to travel to Lagos to inaugurate a Nigeria-German Business Conference organized by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce, where she will engage with civil society representatives and Nigerian startup entrepreneurs.

The statement highlights, “The visit’s objective is to reinforce the diplomatic ties between Germany and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This visit marks the first time a Head of Government has visited Nigeria since the new government’s inauguration.

With over six decades of diplomatic relations, Germany and Nigeria maintain a close and enduring partnership. As the strongest economies and most populous nations in their respective continents, they are natural allies.”

“Chancellor Scholz will be accompanied by a delegation of distinguished German business leaders, including CEOs of major German corporations, as well as a cultural delegation,” the statement concludes.
