Speaking on Thursday during a special prayer session at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, commemorating the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation, Idris said the former official lacks the moral authority to attack the Tinubu administration over insecurity.
He emphasized that the country’s security challenges predate the current government and praised the Federal Government’s responsiveness to crises in Kebbi.
“When security issues arose in southern Kebbi, I contacted the Chief of Defence Staff, who immediately deployed 10 Armoured Personnel Carriers to the affected areas.
This demonstrates the commitment of the current administration,” Idris said. He further questioned, “Someone who held a major position during the Buhari era, when insecurity worsened in Kebbi, is now in Abuja blaming the present government, alleging over 200 deaths. When he had the opportunity, what did he do?”
Governor Idris also warned that his administration would not allow political disagreements to undermine ongoing security efforts. He pledged continued financial and logistical support to security agencies, noting that while some states had scaled back assistance due to rising costs, Kebbi remains fully committed to supporting its security forces.
