FCT Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Delivers ₦20 Million Bounty to FCT Police Command for Capture of Kidnap Leaders
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has fulfilled his promise by handing over ₦20 million to the FCT Police Command as a bounty for the arrest of kidnap kingpins, according to Naija News. CP Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the FCT Police Command for Wike’s generous gesture.
Wike specifically directed the FCT Command to pursue and apprehend two notorious bandit/kidnapping leaders responsible for rampant criminal activities in Abuja, particularly in areas like Bwari, Dutse Alhaji, and Kubwa.
The minister’s decision to offer a ₦20 million reward for the capture of these two notorious figures was made on February 14, 2024. This decision has now been followed through with the arrest of the two wanted kidnappers.
CP Igweh confirmed that the allocated funds were distributed among tactical teams and divisional police officers to improve service delivery and aid in the apprehension of criminals.
Assuring both the Minister and the residents of FCT, CP Igweh reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
In a statement released by the FCT Command, it was emphasized that the implementation of such measures underscores the minister’s dedication to the security and well-being of residents.
