Governor Mutfwang’s Role In LP And ADP Candidates’ Success In Plateau Elections – Insight From PDP Official....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Emmanuel Menseh Madaki, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that Governor Caleb Mutfwang played a key role in helping Labour Party (LP) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidates secure victories in the National Assembly re-run elections in the state due to his belief in their capabilities. Notably, Asama Daniel of the LP won the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency seat, while Pam Dachungyang of the ADP claimed the Plateau North Senate seat in the February 2024 re-run.

The PDP did not field candidates in these elections due to a Federal High Court ruling that invalidated their ticket.

In an interview with Arise TV, Madaki emphasized that the PDP’s decision to support the LP and ADP candidates was rooted in a commitment to good governance rather than self-interest. He also dismissed rumors of any political defections, clarifying that there was no pre-election agreement between the PDP and the LP or ADP candidates.

“There was no alliance for the LP or ADP candidates to defect to the PDP after winning. Our support was purely to ensure that individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge won the elections, even though we were not on the ballot,” Madaki explained.

He highlighted that the PDP’s actions demonstrated its influence in Plateau State and underscored its commitment to ensuring capable individuals were elected, even in the absence of its own candidates. Madaki further noted that the PDP’s support for the LP was a strategic choice to prevent a stronger political party from dominating the elections, referring to the LP as the “lesser devil.”

“The PDP’s decision was based on a thorough consultation process under Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s leadership. Even if we were not participating directly, we aimed to ensure that a competent candidate filled the position. This approach led to the Labour Party securing the seat swiftly,” Madaki added.
