Governor Nwifuru Orders Action Against Contractors Managing Housing Schemes In Ebonyi

During an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Ezillo-Ezzagu Road in Ishielu Local Government Area, Nwifuru, represented by his deputy, Princess Patricia Obila, criticized Ontime Venia Nigeria Company Limited for their lack of commitment to the project. He emphasized the road’s significance, as it connects numerous communities in the state.

The governor, who confirmed that all funding for his projects had been disbursed, warned that any contractors failing to meet their obligations would face arrest and prosecution. “As part of our activities leading up to the 2024 Independence Day celebration, we are conducting project inspections. Today, we are focusing on the Ezillo-Ezzagu Road, which has been in terrible condition. This road is crucial for connecting communities and facilitating commercial activities that can enhance local economies,” he stated.

Nwifuru expressed concern over the contractor’s slow pace, stating, “The work is not progressing as expected. The community has the right to hold you accountable if you fail to deliver on time.”

Chris Anene, the managing director of Ontime Venia Nigeria Company Limited, acknowledged that only two kilometers of the 23-kilometer road had been completed. He attributed the delays to adverse weather conditions, stating, “The rain has been a significant factor. Whenever we have clear weather, we make sure to work. We have been on site for three to four months now.”

In addition, the governor ordered the immediate arrest of all contractors responsible for the housing scheme in Amanze and Izzo communities due to their failure to complete the respective projects.
