According to DAILY POST, heavy rains have washed out a stretch of the expressway between Malori and Guskuri Villages in Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi State, rendering the road impassable and forcing drivers to find alternative routes.

Governor Bala Mohammed, who visited the affected area to assess the damage and explore solutions, highlighted the road’s importance as a key link between Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions. He urged the Federal Government to undertake urgent repairs to prevent accidents and alleviate the difficulties faced by road users.

Mohammed also indicated that his administration would consider measures to maintain certain federal roads in the state, given the increased hazards during the rainy season.

“The Federal Government’s immediate intervention is crucial to avoid accidents and reduce other challenges on the highway,” he said.

The governor further announced plans to send a team of state road engineers to assess the damage and compile a bill of quantities for submission to the Federal Ministry of Works for prompt action. He requested the public’s patience and understanding, promising that swift measures would be taken to address the issue.
