Benin City, Nigeria – In just 100 days, Governor Monday Okpebholo has ushered in a new era of progress in Edo State, implementing impactful reforms in education, agriculture, digital transformation, and social welfare.
His administration’s SHINE Agenda has delivered tangible results, restoring confidence in governance and setting Edo on a path to sustainable development.
Education: A New Dawn for Ambrose Alli University
Governor Okpebholo has revamped Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, increasing the institution’s monthly subvention from N41 million to N500 million—a historic intervention ensuring timely salary payments and improved academic resources.
Additionally, the administration has restored illegally disengaged staff, recruited new academic and non-academic personnel, and resolved the long-standing delay in the induction of 128 medical graduates from the College of Medicine.
Agriculture: Edo Farmers Empowered for Growth
In a bid to enhance food security and boost agricultural productivity, the Edo State Government has distributed 8,188 bags of fertilizer to farmers and facilitated the raising of 34,576 cocoa seedlings in partnership with Bass Cocoa Farms.
Further strengthening the sector, over N500 million has been disbursed to 1,797 farmers under the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) Project, with an additional N1.6 billion allocatedto expand the program across eight more local government areas.
Digital Transformation: Edo State Enters a New Tech Era
Governor Okpebholo’s administration is driving Edo into the future with statewide digital connectivity, upgrading the state’s network infrastructure from 1 Gigabit to 10 Gigabit Fibre to enhance e-governance, data management, and public service efficiency.
The government has also partnered with Cisco Networking Academy to train civil servants in advanced IT skills, positioning Edo as a key player in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
Social Welfare: Business Support for Edo Entrepreneurs
To support economic growth, the government has launched an interest-free loan scheme benefiting over 5,000 market women, artisans, and small business owners.
In collaboration with the World Bank, the administration has also disbursed grants to over 400 small and medium enterprises (SMEs), ensuring financial empowerment and business resilience across Edo State.
