Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has underscored the necessity of distributing food items and cash as palliative measures due to the prevailing hunger and suffering among citizens. Despite his personal skepticism towards the concept of palliative care, Governor Sule stressed the urgent need to address immediate hunger while simultaneously pursuing sustainable solutions for long-term self-reliance.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Governor Sule highlighted the imperative of providing palliatives, particularly during significant periods like the Holy month of Ramadan and Lent, given the current economic challenges facing the nation.

Moreover, the governor outlined plans to empower graduates and farmers by offering skill training and working capital to facilitate the establishment of their businesses. He also expressed intentions to collaborate with institutions such as the Bank of Industry to expand opportunities for youths.

Governor Sule reiterated his commitment to the adage of teaching individuals how to fish rather than solely providing fish, underscoring the importance of fostering self-reliance.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Cross River Government disclosed that Governor Bassey Otu inherited an empty treasury and poor infrastructure from his predecessor, Benedict Ayade. Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ankpo Edet, made this revelation during a press briefing in Calabar. Despite the inherited challenges, the Otu administration has commenced road rehabilitation projects across the state and is dedicated to continuing tasks initiated by previous governments, achieving notable progress in urban development.
