In Plateau, Governor Caleb Mutfwang declared a seven-day mourning period from January 1 to January 8 for victims of the Christmas Eve attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi. Mutfwang emphasized the need for intense prayers and divine intervention, rejecting the narrative of Farmer-Herder clashes and categorizing the events as genocide.
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo condemned cult-related killings in his New Year message, highlighting ongoing investigations by security agencies. He expressed gratitude for citizens’ resilience amid economic challenges and emphasized the importance of choosing leaders committed to Edo’s progress during the 2024 elections.
