Mrs. Oguntala, upon her inauguration, assumed the role of the 34th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

In her address following the investiture, she took the opportunity to advocate for the full implementation of Presidential Order 5 by the Federal Government. This order emphasizes the importance of supporting and prioritizing the consumption of domestically produced goods and services.

Mrs. Oguntala specifically called on the government to address certain issues within the engineering sector. She urged the implementation of the GL 09 entry point for engineers in states where this enhancement has not yet been effected in the civil service. Additionally, she emphasized the need for the formulation of policies mandating employers to provide engineers with fair welfare packages and hazard allowances.

The newly inaugurated president highlighted the importance of executing Executive Order 5 with sincerity, promoting Nigerian-made goods and services. She also expressed appreciation for the initiative announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his 2024 New Year broadcast, creating the “Policy Coordination, Evaluation, Monitoring, and Delivery Unit.” Mrs. Oguntala recommended the inclusion of nominated engineers from the NSE in this unit.

Furthermore, Mrs. Oguntala stressed the significance of encouraging entrepreneurship within the engineering community. She called for the provision of incentives and support for engineers engaged in small businesses and startups, particularly in the extractive industry.

In conclusion, Mrs. Oguntala advocated for the promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to inspire more students to pursue engineering careers.
