He Was Hurt, Felt Cheated!’ – New Shocking Twist In Asake’s Exit From YBNL Revealed
Entertainment lawyer Yemisi Falaye has shed new light on why singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, parted ways with YBNL Nation, the record label owned by rapper and music executive Olamide.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Asake officially exited YBNL in February 2025 after unveiling his own music imprint, Giran Republic, a move that sparked widespread speculation within the industry.
Falaye revealed that the root of the fallout dates back to the early days of Asake’s signing. According to her, Asake was so eager to seize the opportunity that he bypassed crucial legal steps. She recalled that when Olamide first offered the contract, he encouraged Asake to have it reviewed by a lawyer.
Asake eventually brought the document to Falaye, but she warned him that the terms would lock him into a perpetual rights agreement. Rather than taking her advice, he became emotional and accused her of trying to sabotage his big break.
“I remember when Olamide was about to sign Asake,” Falaye said. “Asake was so overwhelmed and told Olamide he didn’t need legal counsel. He said, ‘Do you know how long I’ve waited for this?’ Olamide still urged him to get a lawyer.
“He brought the contract to me, and I told him, ‘If you sign this, you’re giving up your rights permanently.’ He got upset, said I was trying to ruin his chance, and insulted me. Then he went back and signed it on the spot.”
Falaye emphasized that the agreement didn’t work in Asake’s favor, which became clear when he chose not to renew it or renegotiate the terms. “He was hurt and felt cheated,” she noted. “But the truth is, he didn’t fully understand what he signed.
