Heartbreaking News: LAMATA Worker Discovered Deceased After Exhaustive Search

Rescue teams in Lagos State successfully located the lifeless body of Tajudeen Amololo, a worker with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), following a five-day search operation. Amololo became trapped in an underground drainage at the Onipanu area of the state while engaged in debris cleaning, as reported by Naija News earlier.

Part of a team tasked with dislodging and clearing waste from the underground drainage, Amololo’s unfortunate fate led to a multi-day rescue effort by various agencies.

“After five days of intense and exhaustive efforts, the rescue team, unwavering in their determination, recovered the victim’s body from the underground drainage/tunnel at approximately 5:53 pm on Friday, May 10, 2024,” stated Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The recovered body was promptly handled by Agency officials and transferred to LAMATA Drain Ducks. In light of the incident, LASEMA emphasized the importance of implementing enhanced safety protocols in drain ducks’ operations.

Following the tragedy, the incident drew attention to safety measures and precautions essential for workers involved in similar operations.
