Here’s Why He’s Angry’ – Wike Reveals Babachir Lawal’s Grievance With Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has remained bitter because President Bola Tinubu did not choose him as his vice-presidential candidate.

Wike explained that Lawal had high hopes of being selected as Tinubu’s running mate for the 2023 presidential election but was sidelined in favour of Senator Kashim Shettima.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Wike disclosed that Lawal personally visited his residence in Port Harcourt to express his displeasure over the matter.

According to him, Lawal has yet to reconcile with the decision and continues to hold resentment towards the President.

Wike stated:
“If you had issues with Mr. President before he assumed office, the right thing is to find a way to resolve them. When Mr. President settled for his running mate—now the Vice President—Babachir came to see me in Port Harcourt. He was accompanied by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives. His grievance was simple: he believed he should have been chosen as vice presidential candidate. When that didn’t happen, his anger knew no bounds.”
