The House also called on the federal government to promptly undertake diplomatic measures to safeguard the nation’s image, enforce the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), protect Nigerian carriers operating in Saudi Arabia, and ensure the welfare of Nigerian travelers.

Expressing condemnation for the Saudi authorities’ cancellation of visas on Monday, November 13, 2023, the House adopted a motion presented during the Tuesday plenary by Kama Nkemkanma and four other lawmakers.

Nkemkanma, in his motion, highlighted that all 264 passengers aboard Air Peace, having undergone the Advanced Passengers Pre-screening System (APPS).

monitored by Saudi authorities, had their visas revoked upon arrival in Jeddah. Notably, the live monitoring of APPS failed to identify the party responsible for the visa cancellations, leaving both the Nigerian Embassy in Jeddah and Saudi immigration officials perplexed.
