After Hushpuppi’s arrest in dubia by a joint team of Dubai Police and United States FBI agents in June 2020, his IG account had been dormant.

The page had over N2.8 million followers before it was deactivated, according to a recent review by CorrectNG, but the most recent update was two years ago.

On charges of hacking, impersonation, scamming, financial fraud, and identity theft, the internet’s biggest name is currently facing trial in the US.

The social networking site for sharing photos and videos had previously given him permission to keep using his account after he stopped standing in for threatening groups or people.

Instagram, though, appears to have reconsidered its choice to keep Hushpuppi’s account online.

You might remember that in September 2021, The National from the UAE claimed that although though Hushpuppi enjoyed a lavish lifestyle in Dubai thanks to the proceeds of crime, his activities did not break any social media regulations, thus his Instagram account could not be suspended.

According to the social media platform, which was mentioned by The National, it has created procedures with law enforcement and a guideline on “inmate takedown requests” for detainees who use social media.

Hushpuppi will be allowed to use his social media moniker indefinitely, according to Instagram’s worldwide team, “until advised differently from law authorities in the US, where he is awaiting sentencing.”

It said, “Abbas does not fit the criteria that would justify account deletion.

“Despite pleading guilty to his crimes as revealed in court documents from April 2021, Abbas is yet to be imprisoned, so his account does not breach Instagram policies or community standards.”
