Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old 300-level Philosophy student from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), has expressed deep regret for the murder of 18-year-old Christiana Idowu, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). Adeleye killed her and buried the body at his parents’ home in Ikorodu.
Currently in the custody of the Lagos State Police Command Tactical Unit, Ikeja, Adeleye explained his remorseful state and even mentioned attempting to take his own life before security agents intervened.
In his confession to Vanguard, he shared how Christiana had contacted him to help repair her phone, as he had done so before. Both church members, they had known each other for three years. On the day of the incident, Christiana visited his home, where Adeleye claimed he killed her due to financial stress. As she scrolled through his phone, he strangled her, then staged a ransom request to her mother.
Adeleye detailed the nightmarish process of trying to bury her in a shallow grave behind his house. Exhausted and overwhelmed by what he’d done, he even contemplated decapitating her to make the burial easier but couldn’t go through with it.
