Kidnapped Zamfara Varsity Staff And Students Released After Seven Months

Students and staff members of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were abducted by bandits, have finally been released after spending seven months in captivity.

The victims were kidnapped during a violent attack in the Gusau region back in February 2024.

Counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, confirmed the news of their release on Monday, September 23. According to Makama, sources indicated that security forces were instrumental in ensuring the safe return of the abductees.

“It has been confirmed that the students and staff members, who were taken by bandits during the February attack in Gusau, have all regained their freedom and are in good health,” Makama said.

The victims’ release brings an end to a long and painful ordeal, with gratitude extended to the efforts of security personnel involved in the rescue.
