Renowned for his role as the long-time host of the popular game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM), Frank Edoho has candidly shared how allegations of domestic violence almost cost him his position on the show.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

During an appearance on the WithChude podcast, Edoho opened up about his seven-year marriage to Katherine Obiang, with whom he shares three children. He described their union as a “mismatch” and took shared responsibility for their marital struggles.

“My ex-wife was my friend, and there were children involved. I think ours was a mismatch; I was young. When she got pregnant, I had cold feet, but I still got married. It lasted seven years, and in 2010, I left. Three years later, I remarried,” he revealed.

Edoho reflected on the challenges of transitioning from friendship to marriage, stating, “Being friends with the opposite sex doesn’t mean you should get married—it’s a different ball game. In hindsight, maybe I should have thought about it a bit more. She was my good friend, and I think it was love, too. But we didn’t truly assess each other before taking the leap. I’m not going to say it was only her fault; it was my fault too, though not in the way people portrayed it.”

Following their separation, rumors of domestic violence began to circulate, which Edoho said deeply affected him and posed a serious threat to his career.

“That was one of the times I was very depressed, but I couldn’t say anything. The first crisis happened in 2007, but I stayed for three more years. By 2010, it reached a breaking point, and I left,” he said.

The allegations eventually caught the attention of the show’s sponsors, leading to a pivotal meeting.

“When I left, I was still hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Suddenly, I got a call while in the UK from my boss, asking me to return to Lagos because the sponsors were hearing rumors about me,” Edoho recounted.

“They said I wouldn’t present the show anymore because of those allegations. I flew back immediately and attended a meeting. Fortunately, my boss already knew about the altercations because I had been sharing my experiences with him.

“I was accused of being a wife-beater and committing domestic violence. I explained everything from when we started dating to when we got married and had children. By the time I finished sharing my story, two of the ladies in the room were in tears.

“I told them I had evidence to back up my account. I wasn’t divorced—I packed my suitcase and left the marriage.”

Edoho’s openness sheds light on the complexities of personal relationships and the toll of public scrutiny, even for a figure in the spotlight.
