If You’re On My Level, Say It – Pete Edochie Challenges Nollywood Actors

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has sparked reactions after declaring that he considers himself bigger than his colleagues in the Nigerian film industry and challenging anyone who believes they are on the same level with him to publicly make such a claim.

The actor’s remarks come amid previous comments by fellow Nollywood star Yemi Solade, who had claimed that he began his acting career before Edochie, despite acknowledging that Edochie is older than him.

Speaking during an appearance on comedian Isbae U’s online programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask, Edochie was asked to identify his favourite actor in the industry.

Rather than naming a particular colleague, the veteran actor explained that he could not single anyone out because, in his view, he occupies a higher position than all of them.

Edochie also addressed claims from some people in the industry who have suggested that they are older or more established than him. He said he had deliberately avoided responding to such statements over the years.

According to the veteran actor, anyone who believes they are on the same level with him should be bold enough to make the claim publicly.

Edochie was also asked about being described as a legend in Nollywood. While he admitted that he was uncertain about the exact meaning people attach to the title, he said he appreciated the recognition and celebration he has received from the public.

The actor further revealed that he had already built a professional career before entering the movie industry. He explained that he eventually retired from his previous profession after serving as a Director of Programmes before fully establishing himself as an actor.

His latest comments have continued to generate conversations among Nollywood enthusiasts, particularly over his long-standing status and influence in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
