Nigerian Afrobeats singer Omah Stanley Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has opened up about his ongoing struggle with smoking, revealing that he is no longer putting himself under pressure to quit after making several unsuccessful attempts.

The singer made the disclosure during a podcast conversation with DJ Dan, where he candidly discussed his smoking habit and the challenges he has faced in trying to give it up.

Omah Lay explained that despite making repeated efforts to stop smoking, he found himself returning to the habit. He said he has now chosen to accept it as part of his current lifestyle rather than continue putting himself under pressure to quit.

The singer said he enjoys smoking and questioned the point of forcing himself to stop, noting that life is temporary and everyone will eventually die.

He said:

“I love smoking a lot. I tried to stop, I forced myself but I can’t. Honestly bro, life is just one. I am going to just die one day. We are all going to die one day. So what’s the essence of forcing myself to stop smoking?

“I just want to be at peace and smoke my weed. And the fact that it is illegal in Nigeria, it gives me artificial happiness and a sense of rebellion. This is it. This is my life. I will just live it. I will enjoy every single thing that I have.
