During a press briefing on Thursday, Zango clarified that his office will not be involved in the elections, emphasizing that the entire electoral process is solely the responsibility of the Kano Independent Electoral Commission, which he deemed competent to conduct the exercise.

Despite calls for INEC to oversee the local government elections to ensure fairness, a recent Supreme Court ruling did not assign this role to INEC. Reports indicate that the Kano Independent Electoral Commission has begun distributing non-sensitive materials to local governments in preparation for the upcoming election.
