Dickson confirmed the meeting in a statement released after hosting Kwankwaso and other officials at his residence on Tuesday evening.

He explained that members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were also present, adding that the engagement was part of his broader reconciliation drive aimed at strengthening unity between party officials in Kano State and Kwankwaso, who he described as the party’s leader in the state and its vice-presidential candidate.

According to him, the NDC is gradually emerging as a leading opposition force in the country, noting that internal disagreements are normal in growing political movements and can be managed through dialogue and reconciliation.

He said the party has continued to resolve such issues through consultation and engagement.

Dickson added that his mediation efforts extend beyond Kano State, as he has been involved in similar reconciliation processes across different parts of the country.

He maintained that the party has not imposed candidates on any state chapter, insisting that internal democracy remains a guiding principle of the NDC despite challenges that arise during political processes.

He said, “At no time have we imposed candidates on any state, not even in my home state of Bayelsa. We have consistently allowed democratic processes to play themselves out, despite the imperfections and difficulties that naturally arise.”

The former Bayelsa State governor described the discussions with Kwankwaso and other party officials as productive, expressing optimism that all sides would continue to work together in the interest of the party.

He also highlighted his long-standing political relationship with Kwankwaso, noting that both men have worked closely since their time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where they served as governors.

He said their collaboration has continued over the years through regular consultations on national and political matters.

Dickson further noted that both leaders are committed to sustaining their partnership for the growth of the party and the country.

He described the Kwankwasiyya Movement, the Obidient Movement, and other affiliated groups as important mobilisation structures that would be integrated into the NDC.

He disclosed that he had already met with representatives of the Obidient Movement and assured them of inclusion in party activities at various levels.

He added that he had also requested the list of Kwankwasiyya coordinators for formal integration into the party structure.

According to him, the process would be carried out in an orderly and structured manner.

Dickson reaffirmed that the NDC remains open to all members, stakeholders, support groups and volunteers who align with its vision, stressing the party’s commitment to building a strong and disciplined political organisation.
