This decision came after the adoption of a motion by Jonathan Gbefwi, the representative of Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency, Nasarawa State.

Gbefwi highlighted concerns about the suspicious issuance of land documents in the FCT before Wike’s appointment in August 2023. He questioned the legality of these actions, particularly whether officials had the authority to issue such documents during the vacancy of the Minister’s office.

Moreover, Gbefwi expressed worries about lands involved in litigation and the potential for conflicts arising from disputed allocations.

The House emphasized the importance of public interest, asserting that fraudulently obtained land titles should not be upheld.

As a result, the Committee on FCT was tasked with investigating all land allocations made in the Minister’s name between January and August 2023.

Additionally, lands under litigation or subject to multiple allocations were to be identified, with their allocations suspended pending resolution.

The committee is expected to provide a report within four weeks.
