This decision came after the approval of a motion presented on the House floor on Wednesday. The motion was introduced by Abubakar Fulata, the representative of Birniwa/Guri/Kiri-Kasamma Federal Constituency in Jigawa State.

The genesis of this investigation can be traced back to an incident in December 2022 when Umar Audu, a Nigerian journalist, obtained a degree from a university in Cotonou, Benin Republic, within a remarkably short span of six weeks. Subsequently, Audu participated in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme.

Upon completing his academic feat, Audu leveled accusations against unspecified officials within the Ministry of Education, alleging their involvement in a syndicate facilitating the fraudulent acquisition of educational certificates. This revelation sparked widespread criticism from concerned and conscientious Nigerians.

During the deliberations on the motion, Fulata passionately urged the House to take action by identifying the implicated officials from MDAs, as well as the students who have benefited from such unscrupulous institutions and their campuses over the past decade.

Further details on this investigation are expected to be disclosed in due course.
