IPAC Warns Against Political Tensions Over Atiku’s ₦50 Million Allegations

Yusuf Dantalle, the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has demanded that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar either disclose the names of opposition leaders allegedly receiving ₦50 million from the Bola Tinubu-led administration or issue an immediate public apology.

Dantalle’s statement came after Atiku claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was bribing opposition members with ₦50 million each to undermine their political influence.

Atiku made the claim during a national conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria, held in Abuja on Monday. His allegation has sparked a wave of controversy, with opposition leaders firmly denying the accusations.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Dantalle dismissed Atiku’s claims, stating that no opposition leader he knows has received such funds. He expressed concern that such accusations only serve to create division and suspicion among opposition parties.

Dantalle challenged Atiku to provide solid evidence for his claim, stating, “You must be careful with what you say to avoid unnecessarily escalating the political tension.”

He continued, “Atiku Abubakar may have information, but it is not enough to say that all members of the opposition are accepting ₦50 million. As far as I know, there is no national chairman or leader from any opposition party who is receiving such funds.”

He further urged Atiku to either name those involved or apologize for his baseless claims, warning that his statement was casting unwarranted doubts on the integrity of the opposition.
