IPOB Urges Supreme Court to Grant Nnamdi Kanu Freedom By December 15th....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on the Supreme Court to follow the precedent set by the Appeal Court and release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB maintains that Kanu has not committed any crimes, both domestically and internationally, justifying his prolonged detention.
The Supreme Court is set to deliver judgment on an appeal challenging the Nigerian government’s continued incarceration of Kanu. IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, has urged group members to be prepared to welcome Kanu on December 15.
In a statement, Powerful emphasized that Nnamdi Kanu’s actions do not warrant continued detention and called on the Supreme Court justices to uphold justice by unconditionally releasing him. He pointed to the legal expertise of the Supreme Court justices, urging them to follow the example of the Appeal Court justices who discharged Kanu and prevented further arrest and prosecution by the Nigerian government.
Powerful urged the Supreme Court justices to utilize their position to curb executive recklessness and protect the human rights of Nnamdi Kanu. He argued that the Nigerian government’s actions violate both the constitution and international laws on extradition, stressing that the justices should take punitive measures against such abuse of court orders.
