Isaac Fayose Slams FG Over Manage Advice, Questions Lavish Ministerial Convoy

Political commentator Isaac Fayose has criticised the Federal Government over what he described as a contradiction between asking Nigerians to endure the country’s economic difficulties and the level of resources deployed around senior government officials.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Fayose made the remarks while reacting to a video showing the convoy of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during his visit to Rivers State.

Fayose questioned the size of the minister’s convoy and argued that its apparent cost raised concerns about the government’s appeal for citizens to manage their finances amid economic hardship.

He expressed particular concern about the amount that could be spent on fuel and the number of vehicles involved in the convoy, contrasting the arrangement with the financial challenges confronting ordinary Nigerians.

Fayose also questioned why a government official should be surrounded by such a large convoy when citizens are being encouraged to make sacrifices because of the state of the economy. He argued that the lifestyle and security arrangements of public officials should reflect greater sensitivity to the hardship being experienced by Nigerians.

The political commentator further compared the minister’s convoy with the movements of wealthy private-sector figures, suggesting that the scale of the official entourage deserved public scrutiny.

His comments have added to ongoing public debates over government spending, the cost of living and whether the benefits of economic reforms are being sufficiently felt by ordinary Nigerians. While the Federal Government has pointed to improvements in several economic indicators, concerns over household purchasing power and living costs remain prominent in public discourse.
