I’ve Never Rigged Any Election’ — Faleke Launches Fiery Response To Davido

The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives, James Faleke, has denied allegations that he attempted to influence the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the outcome of the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

Faleke’s response followed a post by Nigerian Afrobeats singer Davido on his account, in which the singer accused the lawmaker of pressuring INEC to alter the election results during the collation exercise in Osogbo on Saturday.

Davido had written:

“Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO.”

Reacting on Sunday through his verified account, Faleke dismissed the allegation, insisting that he had never influenced or rigged an election and had no intention of doing so.

He also told Davido to “face your music,” while explaining that his presence in Osun was strictly to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Faleke noted that Davido had similarly supported his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party.

The lawmaker said:

“I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics.

“I came to Osun to support my party’s candidate, while you supported your uncle’s party (Accord). INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else.”

The exchange has added another layer to the political reactions surrounding the Osun governorship election, following the conclusion of the poll and the declaration of Adeleke as the winner by INEC.
