He made this known on Monday during a Distinguished Personality Lecture at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Kwara State, themed: “The Political Economy of Livestock Development in Nigeria: Challenges and Prospects.”

The former INEC Chairman attributed the increasing tension between farmers and herders to growing land pressure, climate change, and poor natural resource governance — all of which, he said, must be confronted through comprehensive livestock sector reforms.

According to Jega, successful implementation requires the collaboration of the National Assembly, security agencies, and state governments.

“President Tinubu has shown both the determination and capability to tackle this issue. But to succeed, his administration needs the full support of relevant stakeholders to carry out evidence-based reforms,” he stated.
