Tinubu Makes History As Saint Lucia Bestows Prestigious National Honour

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been awarded the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL) — the highest national honour conferred by the government of Saint Lucia.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The recognition was officially bestowed by the Governor General of Saint Lucia, as confirmed in a statement shared Monday on the country’s verified (formerly Twitter) account.

“The Government of Saint Lucia is pleased to announce that the Governor General has conferred the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL) upon H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.

President Tinubu is currently on a diplomatic mission across the Caribbean and South America. As part of his visit, he addressed a joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly on Monday.

Delivering his speech at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom in Sandals Grande, Tinubu underscored his commitment to building stronger ties between Africa and the Caribbean, advocating for increased collaboration between both regions.

“My visit to Saint Lucia is aligned with our vision of strengthening the bridge between Africa and the Caribbean. It is a step toward deeper economic cooperation and shared progress,” he said.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of partnership in key sectors such as trade, tourism, education, investment, cultural exchange, and consular services. He also highlighted the historical and cultural links that connect Nigeria and Saint Lucia.

He further stressed the potential for mutual growth through collaborative efforts in youth development, academic exchange, and sustainable development.

Following the president’s address, the Saint Lucian government announced plans to formalize diplomatic ties with Nigeria. Among the initiatives is a visa waiver arrangement for holders of diplomatic and official passports from OECS member states and Nigeria.

“Saint Lucia and the Federal Republic of Nigeria will establish a visa waiver arrangement for holders of diplomatic and official passports from OECS member states,” the statement added.
