Jigawa PDP Caucus Throws Weight Behind Lamido, Hails Party Leadership

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Expanded Caucus in Jigawa State has expressed strong support for the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BOT), and National Executive Committee (NEC), commending their efforts to revitalize the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was disclosed in a communiqué shared with journalists by the state Publicity Secretary, Umar Kyari, following the caucus meeting held on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital.

The gathering brought together hundreds of PDP executives, including former governor and state leader Sule Lamido, party stalwarts, and representatives from all 287 wards across the 27 local government areas.

The communiqué applauded the “coordinated measures” taken by the national leadership to strengthen the PDP ahead of upcoming elections.

“We commend the NWC, BOT, NEC, and other party organs for the arrangements already in place for the forthcoming national convention,” the statement read, noting that these measures align with the party’s constitution, rules, and regulations.

The caucus reaffirmed its loyalty to Lamido and the State Working Committee, led by Babandi Gumel, emphasizing that the declaration reflects “solid grassroots support and unity within the party.”

It also lauded Jigawa’s National Assembly members for championing development projects and empowerment programs, highlighting their role in boosting party goodwill and public support.

Call for Electoral Accountability

The caucus urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sanction three staff members accused of misconduct during the recent Babura/Garki Federal Constituency by-election, describing it as a “necessary step for safeguarding free and fair elections.”

The PDP also praised party members across Jigawa for their resilience and active participation in the by-election despite challenges.

The communiqué encouraged members to remain calm and support decisions from the national leadership as Nigeria’s political landscape evolves.

“All members of the party are urged to remain calm and back all decisions of the party’s National Leadership as political events unfold in the country,” it stated.

The caucus pledged to consolidate recent gains, maintain engagement with grassroots units, and ensure inclusiveness and momentum ahead of future contests. It concluded with a call for solidarity and constructive engagement among members in Jigawa and nationwide to achieve shared political goals.
