Jibrin recently criticized Doguwa for making derogatory comments about Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and founder of the Kwankwasiyya movement. Doguwa, in response, accused Kwankwaso of insulting members of the APC in Kano first.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his media aide, Sani Paki, Jibrin claimed that Doguwa lacks a solid political base and is perceived by his constituents as a figure akin to the late Ugandan leader Idi Amin, known for his authoritarian rule. Jibrin asserted that his own influence was crucial in securing Doguwa’s position as Chief Whip in the 8th National Assembly, positioning himself as Doguwa’s political godfather.
Jibrin criticized Doguwa’s political career, stating, “Doguwa has never won a free and fair election. His party did not find him suitable for the roles of Whip or Leader of the House in 2023.” He also mentioned that he played a significant role in Doguwa’s previous appointments, despite Doguwa’s alleged betrayal and attempts to undermine his leadership.
Jibrin challenged Doguwa to demonstrate his political structure and accused him of thriving only in crisis situations. He concluded by asserting his status as Doguwa’s political mentor, emphasizing that his contributions have been instrumental in Doguwa’s career despite the latter’s apparent disloyalty.
