Judicial Shockwave: Court Shields Fubara’s Man From Police, DSS Clampdown

According to reports, the affected agencies include the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission, and the State Security Service (DSS). The court’s decision followed legal arguments presented by Ihunwo’s counsel, D.O. Okor, SAN, alongside C.J. Ogum, G.S. Okuru, and C.N. Onu. Notably, no legal representation appeared for the defendants during the session.
In the suit marked PHC/1218/CS/2025, Honourable Justice I.P.C. Igwe granted leave for the documents to be served outside the court’s jurisdiction—specifically in Abuja.
Furthermore, the court approved substituted service via courier company Red Star Express, which will deliver the legal documents to the respective addresses of the security agencies.
Justice Igwe also ordered that the status quo ante litem be maintained until the motion for interlocutory injunction is heard on April 30, 2025.
The lawsuit, filed by Ihunwo, names top security institutions as defendants, including the Inspector General of Police, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission, the Director General of the DSS, and the Rivers State branch of the DSS.
