Nigeria’s Housing Crisis Targeted As FG Embarks On Nationwide 100-Unit Project per LGA

The Federal Government has announced plans to construct 100 housing units in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, totaling 77,400 units nationwide.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, the housing project is expected to be completed within a year of its official launch. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, disclosed this on Wednesday while hosting a delegation from Creative Sphere Limited at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi.

Dangiwa stated that the initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to providing every Nigerian with access to affordable and decent housing.

He explained that the project would be financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF).

“Each housing estate will include supporting facilities such as recreational spaces, a primary school, a police outpost, a clinic, and a shopping mall,” the minister noted.

On the distribution plan, Dangiwa said 80% of the houses would be sold to local residents earning a living wage. Eligible buyers will be required to contribute a third of their monthly salary toward the cost.

“For instance, a person earning N30,000 monthly would only pay N10,000, while someone earning N90,000 would contribute N30,000,” he explained.

He added that the remaining 20% of the units would be allocated free of charge to the most vulnerable citizens, including widows, orphans, and those with little or no income.
