The budget was approved on Tuesday by the House after endorsing the report presented by Abubakar Bichi, the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee from Kano State.
The Committee of Supply reviewed the Appropriations Committee’s recommendations and passed the bill.
After the budget’s approval, Bichi spoke with journalists and disclosed that the contentious presidential yacht had been eliminated by the committee.
He specified that the N5 billion was reallocated to Student Loans.
As a reminder, President Bola Tinubu’s proposal had initially included a provision of N1.5 billion for vehicles for the First Lady’s office, N5 billion for a presidential yacht, and another N12.5 billion for the presidential air fleet.
Social media campaigns are currently ongoing to oppose the National Assembly’s approval of the supplementary budget; nevertheless, the bill has received swift endorsement.
Subsequent to the bill’s passage, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas declared that the president would sign it on Friday.
