Emmanuel praised the peaceful and collaborative eight-year tenure they shared, emphasizing the lack of discord between them. He described Ekpo not only as an advisor, co-laborer, and confidant but also as a man of deep character and contentment.

In his remarks, Emmanuel highlighted Ekpo’s integrity and unwavering support throughout their administration. He expressed admiration for Ekpo’s candid advice, noting that there was no piece of counsel he discarded during their time in office.

Emmanuel further explained that Ekpo’s greater age and experience contributed to their successful collaboration. He praised their good health throughout their tenure, expressing gratitude for God’s blessings.

The incumbent governor, Pastor Umo Eno, also commended Ekpo’s character, statesmanship, and intellectual prowess, attributing them to the peace and stability witnessed in the previous administration. Governor Eno expressed gratitude for Ekpo’s inspiration and the positive remarks made by the former governor.

During the thanksgiving speech, Mr. Moses Ekpo thanked God for the grace to serve the state for eight years in good health and acknowledged God’s goodness throughout his 82-year life journey. The thanksgiving Mass, themed “Celebrating God’s glories over crosses,” was officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese, Bishop Ebebe Aya.
