JUST IN: Over 100 Suspected ‘Imported’ Voters Nabbed With New PVCs At Osun Lawmaker’s Residence

Security operatives have reportedly arrested more than 100 suspected “imported” voters at the residence of an Osun State lawmaker ahead of the ongoing governorship election.

The suspected voters, who were reportedly found with newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), were allegedly staying at the residence of Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing the Irewole-Isokan Constituency.

According to reports, the group was allegedly brought into the state by a member of the Accord Party to participate in the governorship election.

A video circulating on social media purportedly shows one of the suspected voters being questioned by security operatives. During the interrogation, the individual reportedly confirmed that the group had been accommodated at the location to participate in the election.

Meanwhile, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has raised concerns over the reported deployment of heavily armed security personnel to the residence of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, earlier on Saturday.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council alleged that more than 10 black Hilux vehicles conveying security personnel arrived at the Speaker’s residence and surrounded the premises.

TICC further alleged that the residence had been sealed off, with people inside reportedly prevented from leaving.

The council said it had received reports that the armed security personnel had taken positions around the premises but acknowledged that it had not independently established the reason for the deployment.

It said it remained unclear whether the security operatives were deployed to protect the residence or were carrying out an official assignment connected to the election.

The allegations surrounding both incidents had not been independently verified at the time of reporting.
